This is a MUST-SEE when in DC. You can go inside, ride the elevator, and check out the panoramic view of the entire DC metro area from the north, east, south, and west windows. Entry is free but you must get a ticket from the National Park Service. You can either go right when they open and get a timed ticket for later in the day OR go to the National Park Service website and reserve your timeslot online. I recommend doing the latter but they charge a $1-2 convenience fee. It's well worth the spare change!

As a local few things give me more pleasure than to view DC from the top of the Monument. Be sure to ask a true native about the water mark on the side! You will be amazed.

Pretty much any guest you have visiting will want to see and go to the top of this monument. I was told you have to get there very early to get tickets so I ordered them on line. It costs me $1 per person plus under $3 to have them mailed to me. It was well worth it to not have to stand in very early morning lines.
